My Life
I am currently a neuroscience and psychology major at the University of Nebraska Omaha. I plan to continue on to graduate school after I complete my undergraduate and study to become an industrial/organizational psychologist. Throughout middle school and high school, I was always enthralled by classes involving science. My favorite classes by far were anatomy and psychology, so I decided to pursue a mixture of the two! I grew up always caring about others and wanting to help them, so the field of healthcare definitely stood out to me.
In December 2018, I obtained my Certified Nursing Assistant license and immediately started working at a skilled nursing home in North Dakota, where I lived for five years. I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, where I now live again. I have worked in the memory care unit of a nursing home here in Omaha for about three months, and I absolutely love it! Working with Alzheimer's patients has made my passion for neuroscience and the medical field grow even stronger, and this led me to work in the University of Nebraska Mind and Brain Health Labs with dementia patients for a research study.
In high school, my biggest passion was playing French horn. I met a lot of my closest friends through band, and I also love making music. I went to International Music Camp up by Canada for two summers in a row and participated in the wind ensemble and orchestras. I went to All State music for band or orchestra all four years of high school, and I was in the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra during my senior year. I studied privately as well throughout most of the past four years, and I really enjoyed growing as a player. Music is definitely one of my favorite things to do, whether I'm listening or playing. I also play the piano, but horn is my strong suit for sure.
